Artist Statement
The "pages" of this book are made from hand-printed envelopes; plants gathered in the Adirondacks were used as stencils or masks. Each envelope contains a dual message, one of both threat and hope. Threats posed by climate change are written on fragile tracing paper in cursive, handwriting that is increasingly inaccessible to many people, reflecting the fact that the threats posed by climate change are not universally recognized. Messages of hope are in clear, bold lettering on card stock, indicating the artist's wish that ultimately hope will be stronger than despair.
